The Arizona Jewish Historical Society is seeking an energetic, organized, and motivated professional to serve as Center Manager for the new CuterPlotkin Jewish Heritage Center which is set to open in January 2010.  This position will be a full-time position, beginning in the fall of 2009.  The position includes a regular salary as well as health insurance benefits.  

Responsibilities for the position are listed as follows: 

  • The Center Manager will be primarily responsible for marketing the use of heritage center for events, and ensuring that proper accommodations are made for these events
  • The Center manager will be responsible for the day to day operation of the facilities at the CuterPlotkin Jewish Heritage Center.  This includes:
  • The facility:
  • Overseeing cleaning, landscaping, and maintenance
  • Ensuring security for the facility and events
  • Customer experience:
  • Overseeing visitor registration and tours
  • Overseeing volunteers and administrative staff
  • Event Management:
  • Coordination of all aspects of private events
  • Ensuring events are properly contracted, planned, and executed in accordance with the wishes of the Board of the AJHS and the event sponsors
  • The center manager will assist the Executive Director in promoting the facility
  • The center manager will report to the AJHS Executive Director who will act as his/her direct supervisor
  • The Center Manager will coordinate with the AJHS Executive Director and the center Curator on display and schedule of museum exhibitions.

Requirements for this position include:

  • Demonstrated experience with managing a facility of this size and complexity
  • Demonstrated experience with event management and sales
  • At least a Bachelors degree in a relative field and 2 years of previous administrative experience
  • Good writing and communication skills
  • Flexible hours, and the ability to work evenings and weekends.
  • Good computer skills. 
  • Ability to adapt to new situations
  • Good public relations skills
  • A team-oriented personality
  • Strong interest in history and/or local Jewish community
